Patty Cornwell
Child Advocate

Patty Cornwell has been a Child Advocate at the Northeast Arkansas Children’s Advocacy Center since 2012. As a Child Advocate, educating Parents and Caregivers on what to expect during an investigation is key. In the investigative process advocates assist families in dealing with the anxiety of an unexpected allegation for the child and their family.

Providing tips for helping a child with his/her feelings about the abuse, referrals for Trauma Focused Therapy and helping the family with a needs assessment is just the first of many steps in working with an Advocate.

Patty helps to educate adults in the prevention of child abuse by facilitating the Darkness to Light, Stewards of Children Program. Darkness to Light is an evidence based, free child sexual abuse prevention training.

In her free time, Patty and her husband love to travel. Their youngest, in fact has moved to Seattle, WA, so the Pacific Northwest will continue to be on the list of places to explore as much as possible!

In addition, Patty enjoys spending time with her family and friends, refinishing furniture projects and painting.

Patty says the quote by Anita Sams “Let me be as a feather. Strong with purpose yet light at heart, able to bend. And, tho I might become frayed, able to pull myself together again.” helps her encourage victims that they will be whole again.
