As a founding member of the Northeast Arkansas Children's Advocacy Center's Board of Directors Dr. Larry Salinger was a wealth of knowledge and inspiration to so many involved in the efforts against child abuse and a strong advocate for social justice. Dr. Salinger was so many things to so many of us. Many a student has sat in his oversized brown rocking leather chair in his University office and soaked in his wisdom on anything from child abuse statistics, social justice issues, funding sources, criminology topics down to reminders to take time for family and self. Yes, Dr. Salinger was much more than a professor, board member and mentor. He was a great friend to us all. While we gain advice and mentorships throughout our academic and professional life few are so vested in our ongoing long-term success. Those who had the privilege of knowing Dr. Salinger know that we were cared for and could always call him and he would freely help in anyway possible. We miss him dearly everyday. Mahatma Gandhi once said "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Dr. Salinger never had to speak these words as he more than lived them.
